New Deal

We focus on new work being created for Deal Music & Arts.

Firstly, we focus on the young award-winning Irish composer Áine Mallon, who is creating a new work for Deal Music & Arts’ New Sounds Ensemble.

You can enjoy Áine Mallon’s award-winning choral work Dum Transisset Sabbatum in a live recording of its premiere performed by Ora Singers directed by Suzi Digby OBE.  Many will remember Ora Singers’ sublime concert in Sandwich at last year’s festival.

Renowned jazz musician and bandleader, Peter Long joins Paul Edlin ‘in discussion’ about his new recreation of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, made for jazz orchestra in the style of Duke Ellington.

Pete Long has made recordings of two movements of his suite, literally created in the last month by four of Britain’s finest jazz musicians, especially for this release.

Finally, we celebrate the work done in Deal Music & Arts Creative Jazz Weekend with the You Tube release of a film made in 2017 and the premiere release of the new A Great Deal in Jazz, a new work created by all the participants at last November’s weekend and directed by Deal Music & Arts Jazz Journey Musical Director, Joe Browne.  The participants of all ages are joined by members of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, with whom Deal Music & Arts is very proud to work with.
