The Handelians perform British Folk Songs
Ralph Vaughan Williams – Five English Folk Songs
Cecilia McDowall – A Fancy of Folksongs
and a selection of traditional songs, including Suo Gân, Afton Water and I love my love
The Deal & Walmer Handelian Choral Society (The Handelians) was founded in 1946 by local doctor James Hall, whose service as ‘the lifeboat doctor’ was recognised with an OBE in the 1946 King’s Birthday Honours list. It is hard to know whether Dr Hall could have envisaged that we would still be going strong 77 years later, a musical gift for Deal & Walmer in addition to his medical legacy.
Today, The Handelians has over 50 members; we are a friendly, non-audition choir, which sings choral music ranging from baroque to contemporary. We perform three concerts a year in Deal & Walmer, and would welcome new members in all voice parts.
