Lucy Crowe Soprano and Fantasia Orchestra
Tom Fetherstonhaugh Conductor
The festival is delighted to welcome its President, leading British soprano Lucy Crowe OBE, with the brilliant young Fantasia Orchestra, in an evening inspired by the beauty of birdsong. Together they present a ravishing programme of songs, arias and orchestral works including Handel’s As when the dove laments her love, one of Strauss’s Four Last Songs, Mozart’s Dove Sono from The Marriage of Figaro and Gershwin’s Summertime. Lucy and the players of Fantasia fly between styles, allowing Berg to perch next to Price, and Vivaldi to soar side-by-side with a world premiere by Blasio Kavuma. Join us for a magical evening in the beautiful surroundings of St George’s Church.
Programme also includes:
- Haydn – Symphony No. 83 ‘The Hen’
- Sherwin – A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square
- Messiaen – The Lovebird of the Star
This concert lasts approximately one hour and 50 minutes, with an interval.
