Tipped as a rising talent by Jazz Wise, Maddy Coombs is one of the most exciting young musicians to have emerged from leading jazz educators Tomorrow’s Warriors. An ambassador for the tenor saxophone, mentored by Binker Golding, Denys Baptiste and Gary Crosby, she has played alongside Judi Jackson, Soweto Kinch and Mark Kavuma. Leading her own line-up, she has performed at jazz events including We Out Here Festival, at Pizza Express Soho and at London’s iconic Jazz Café. Maddy’s quartet will perform her own music, which draws inspiration from many artists including Joe Henderson and John Coltrane.
For the last 34 years, Tomorrow’s Warriors has played a vital role within its community and the wider music industry and has been credited with literally changing the face of UK jazz. Tomorrow’s Warriors’ Warriors Rise initiative sees the acclaimed jazz talent development organisation support three emerging Warriors’ artists, including Maddy, across a seven-date run of UK gigs, providing tour planning and marketing mentoring.
This performance lasts approximately one hour and 45 minutes, including a break.
Warriors Rise is a PRS Foundation Talent Development Network Partner initiative supported by PPL
