Pilgrimage – Sound Installation

Anna Braithwaite

Experience the myriad, and unexpected, sounds of a wild walk along the coast path from Deal to Dover as captured by Folkestone-based sound artist Anna Braithwaite. Pilgrimage is an immersive 360° sound installation which uses field recordings and improvised vocal music, recorded en route in St Margaret of Antioch church, to capture the experience of the modern pilgrim.

Anna Braithwaite’s work has been performed at the Royal Opera House, the National Theatre and on BBC Radio 3. She has worked on community projects with the Marlowe Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Please note: Doors will open at 5pm, Anna will introduce her installation at 5.30pm, followed by a Q & A with the audience. The evening ends at 6.45pm. The 18-minute piece will be played on a continuous loop and listeners can choose how long to stay, so will be able to get to the concert after this event if they wish.

This project has been developed with support from Screen South’s Arts Council England NPO Artist Showcase Programme.
