Xiaowen Shang piano Elizabeth Huskisson actor

Elizabeth Huskisson

This tapestry of music and text is inspired by Dickens’ female characters and musical muses, including his sister Fanny, a notable composer and pianist. The performance includes extracts from his writings, along with original readings from actor Elizabeth Huskisson. Pianist Xiaowen Shang, DMA’s Young Artist in Association, has devised this programme to include works by Liszt, Mendelssohn, Bax, Fanny Dickens and a theme and variations based on Fanny’s work by Xiaowen herself.
