With the impact of COVID-19 there has been no opportunity to raise funds for St Andrew’s Church in Deal who host Coffee Concerts during Deal Festival or Deal Music Music and Arts – we are asking you to donate to these and the monies will be shared.

In cooperation with St Andrew’s Church in Deal, we are pleased to present a virtual ‘coffee concert’ given by the East Kent based Ringlemere Ensemble, who bring to life W.A. Mozart’s String Quartet No. 17 in B flat major, K. 458, ‘The Hunt’.
Despite the easing of conditions, we realise that the safest and most reliable way to bring music to our community is via film.
The Ringlemere Ensemble recorded this performance at St Andrew’s Church in Deal in August 2020 for the benefit of the local and wider communities.
By way of introduction to Mozart’s work, two of the ensemble’s members, Jane Browne and Adrian Smith, discuss the quartet together with Christopher Cook, Deal Music & Arts recently appointed Chair.

W.A. Mozart’s String Quartet No. 17 in B flat major, K. 458,
‘The Hunt’
The Ringlemere Ensemble takes its name from the Ringlemere Oast where their rehearsals take place. It overlooks the spot where the Ringlemere Cup was discovered by a metal detectorist in 2001. The Bronze Age treasure, dating back to between 1700 and 1500 BC, is now in the British Museum, and is listed as one of their top ten treasures.
The group usually takes the form of a piano quartet or quintet with the pianist Helen Crayford, but on this occasion they are appearing as a string quartet with violinists Jane Browne and Ruth Knell, viola player Adrian Smith, and ‘cellist Keren Starer-Shaw.
