Learning & Participation at the Festival
It has been a great year for our learning and participation projects. As well as enjoying performing at the festival we provide all year-round projects, workshops and learning experiences as part of the DMA offer.
Happily, we were successful in securing funding from Arts Council England as well as many charitable trusts allowing people of any age, background or gender to take part in the joy of music.
Many of our projects culminate in festival performance so watch out for anything with this logo to see local people performing all kinds of music in all kinds of venues.

Our young musicians, part of the Bold As project, feature in a new work by Luke Styles alongside singers and the White Cliffs Symphonic Winds on 5 July in Dover Town Hall. The very same day at 3:30 pm our fabulous Community Band will be performing outside St George’s Church Deal including new works by Phil Self as well as a myriad of other popular and thought-provoking music.
Our L&P lunch time concert is on 11 July where you can hear the extraordinary musicians from the One World Orchestra perform in Charlton Church Dover. Watch out for great jazz music from our own Creative Jazz Orchestra supporting the iconic Norma Winstone Trio on 12 July as well as a host of young performers showcasing their talents on 13 July. Not just that but our saxophone ensemble will perform a new work by Blasio Kavuma on the morning of 13 July and our singing group Sky’s the Limit will join with other Music4wellbeing groups for a wonderful singing event at St George’s on 12 July.
Why not also pop into the Linden Hall Studio to catch our young photographers’ pictures. We can’t wait for the festival to arrive and invite you to come and see for yourselves what great musicians our community has and how youthful exuberance transitions into assured creativity.
